Hey guys, Megan here! So, I recently took on a project to give one of the bathrooms in our new house a major makeover. And let me just say, it’s been quite the adventure! You know how it goes when you move into a new place – unexpected expenses pop up left and right. We had to shell out a surprise $5,000 for a furnace, so needless to say, money’s been a bit tight around here. But hey, that’s just part of the homeowner life, right?

Anyways, I wanted to spruce up our bathroom without breaking the bank, so I decided to DIY a Hollywood Regency style mirror. I mean, who wouldn’t want a touch of glamour and elegance in their bathroom, am I right? So, I grabbed the basic mirror we had on hand and got to work.

First things first, I had to prep the mirror for its fabulous transformation. I covered the glass with some plastic wrap and painters tape to protect it from the gold spray paint I was about to unleash. Let me tell you, covering a mirror while talking to the camera is quite the juggling act! I may have made a few tape mishaps along the way, but hey, who’s judging, right?

I chose a gorgeous gold spray paint and went to town on the mirror. The whole time, I was crossing my fingers and hoping my vision for the finished product would come to life. But as luck would have it, Mother Nature decided to rain on my parade – literally. When I woke up the next day, the paint was peeling. So, it was back to the drawing board.

After sanding down the mirror and doing a take two on the painting, I was finally able to move on to the next step. I had these beautiful corner and facade pieces that I found on Amazon, and I was super excited to add them to the mirror. They were going to take the whole Hollywood Regency vibe to the next level! I went for a matte finish with a Krylon spray for this part, and let me tell you, the end result was totally worth the extra effort.

Now, to add the final touch, I used some good ol’ Gorilla glue to attach the fixtures onto the mirror. I had a little debate with myself about the placement of the pieces, but I finally decided to go with a “the more, the merrier” approach. It’s my project, so why not go all out, right? After letting everything dry overnight, it was finally time for the big reveal.

I couldn’t help but feel a little nervous as I removed the clamps and hoped for the best. The last thing I wanted was for all my hard work to go to waste due to some ghostly silvering on the mirror. But, luckily, the mirror survived the moisture test, and boy, was I relieved!

I gotta say, I’m pretty proud of how the mirror turned out. It’s got that Hollywood Regency glam, and it’s ready to take its place as the centerpiece of our bathroom. Sure, there were a few hiccups along the way, but isn’t that the beauty of DIY projects? It’s all about the journey and the learning experiences.

So, to sum it all up, my DIY Hollywood Regency mirror makeover was a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs, but in the end, it was totally worth it. It just goes to show that with a little creativity, perseverance, and maybe a touch of trial and error, you can turn something basic into a showstopper without breaking the bank.

If you’re thinking about diving into your own DIY project, my advice is to go for it! Embrace the imperfections, learn from the mishaps, and enjoy the satisfaction of creating something unique with your own two hands.

Okay, that’s it for now, folks. I’ve got more projects in the pipeline, so stay tuned for more adventures in DIY home décor.

Until next time, happy crafting!
