Hey there, DIY enthusiasts! It’s Megan here, and I am so excited to share with you all the nitty-gritty details of my latest project – building a shed platform from scratch. So grab a cup of coffee, get cozy, and let’s dive into this step-by-step guide.

I have to admit, one of the most underestimated parts of any build is the groundwork. Time lapses and mafia movies might give us this false sense of hope about digging, but let me tell you, it’s no joke. I spent a good 2 and a half hours digging out the space for my shed platform, and let’s just say, it was a labor of love. But hey, we’re DIY folks, right? We are stubborn to a point of taking more time than we need to do things just to do them.
Now, I had a little dilemma when it came to leveling the area. I pondered over two options – either building a retaining wall by digging down or just building up with some planks. In the end, I decided to build up to save myself from digging any deeper than necessary. And well, let’s just say I’m all about working smarter, not harder. So, I raked the area, got rid of the sod, and leveled it out. And voila, we were ready to move on to the next step.

But, life happens, and in my case, it was the good ol’ rain that decided to make an appearance. I had to take a break and wait for about a week and a half for the weather to clear up. But hey, such is the life of a DIYer, right? We roll with the punches and get back to it when we can.

Fast forward to a sunny day, and I was finally back in action. The posts were level, and it was time to damp the ground and lay down the landscape fabric. Now, I have to confess, I might have gone a little overboard with the fabric, but better safe than sorry, right? I sure didn’t want any surprise green friends popping out of my gravel in the future.

And then came the morning when I could finally see the finish line in sight. The sun was shining, but let me tell you, it was a brisk 37 degrees. But hey, no complaints here. I was all set to tackle the final stage – adding the gravel. I opted for bagged gravel, and let me tell you, I ended up with about 45 bags of the stuff. I could’ve gone for loose gravel, but the convenience of having it all delivered from Home Depot was just too good to pass up. Sometimes, you’ve got to weigh the pros and cons, and in this case, the delivery service won out.
In the end, it’s all part of the DIY journey, right? The setbacks, the unexpected weather, the decision-making – it’s what makes the end result that much more satisfying. And let me tell you, standing back and seeing that shed platform come together was worth every bit of sweat and effort.

So, there you have it, folks – my DIY shed platform build, from the ground up. I hope my little adventure has inspired you to take on your own projects, no matter the obstacles that come your way. Remember, it’s all about the process, the learning, and the satisfaction of creating something with your own two hands.
Until next time, happy building! Megan out.
