Last week I gave you a little intro about this new way of eating challenge I’m committing to for a month after I read fitness expert Joel Marion’s newest book: Always Eat After 7PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks – While Burning Fat Overnight. But let me get a little further into why this book spoke to me. And what I hope to gain out of this challenge.
First and foremost, I am a chronic late-night eater. I have always been a night owl. So it just comes naturally that later in the night became the time I would eat bigger meals. Cut to heading into the corporate 8 – 5 world when my bedtime had to get earlier, but my eating habits stayed the same. Unfortunately, the late-night eating became less about sustenance and more about stress-eating due to my job. So I made a lot of bad choices that I’ve got to dig my way out of now.
Why I’m Deciding to Always Eat After 7PM
So when I read about Joel’s work as a fitness expert and nutritionist (check out his interview here to get a background on how he came to figure this way of eating out) I started to look a little further into the science behind his claims. And why Always Eat After 7 PM might work for me. And a lot of it came to hit a little too close to home.
Joel’s work is based on the idea that avoiding carbs and eating early are outdated models. And not ideal for successful weight loss. As someone who is both a night owl AND terrible at carb discipline, but still desperately wants the benefits of hitting ketosis, this immediately got my attention. Joel’s system is designed to be as simple as possible for us…let’s say…easily distracted dieters. And now that I’m ready to actually wear my cute summer clothes, I am pumped to get this started.
Currently, I’m going through his 14 Day Acceleration Phase to help kick start my health and get more accustomed to leaning into eating the way I inherently want to but have been fighting for so many years. So I’ll talk about my results so far in next week’s post! Here are my base stats from when I started the challenge last week:
